Season 1 Silo – Kara Tsiaperas working Ferdinand Kingsley

Kara is originally from California. She started out as an actor, before moving to London to train as a voice coach.  After graduating from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in Voice Studies she decided to remain in London, where she now lives with her New Yorker husband, her British daughter and two English cats. Since relocating she has specialised in helping actors sound authentically North American to native ears.  She coaches General American, as well as regional and ethnic North America accents. Kara is passionate about helping actors find a way into their character’s style of speaking. Kara’s technique combines physicality with visual and auditory memory cues.  She also tailors her approach to suit the style of the actor.  Her knowledge of American social history (the history of the people) also equips her to coach the right type of American dialect for the time period, the region and the class of the characters.  

Kara has had the pleasure to support actors such as Rebecca Ferguson, Harriet Walter, Geraldine James, Maxine Peake, James Norton, Samantha Bond, Imogen Poots, Sharon Small, Ed Stoppard, Daisy Ridley, Florence Pugh, Letitia Wright, Andy Nyman, Dervla Kirwan, Ken Stott, Malcolm Sinclair, Alan Corduner and Noomi Rapace.

Kara has a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, a MFA in acting from the University of California, Davis, and a MA in Voice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Kara holds American, British and Cypriot citizenship.  She is legal to work in the U.S., U.K. and the European Union.

Prince William and Kate Middleton attend the gala performance of ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ and thought the American accents were “incredible and amazing”. They felt the British cast “nailed it” with sounding “totally American”
